LOGBOOK

25 October 2000 Cartagena, Colombia 10*24.640N, 075*32.552W

We are safely arrived in Cartegena! This is the end of the Cartagena 2000 part of our journey west. We are anchored off the Club Nautico docks at the north end of the bay very near the old city. The group of four boats ahead of us is settled in. Our group of six is trickling in. Another group of five or so will be a few days behinds us.

We had an uneventful passage south along the Colombian coast, close enough at last to see some detail...but not much to see but bluffs and hills. It was overcast the whole day, cool enough in fact for us to wear long sleeves until noon, and there was hardly any wind. We managed to sail for only about two hours; the rest of the time, we faked it.

Cartagena is a big city, with a large enclosed bay. The "island"/penisula of Boca Grande, where all the high rises are dominates our horizon, while our anchorage area centers around a statue of the Madonna and child. Already we are running in to people we know.

Things will get quiet on our front for awhile. We have some projects to jump on and touring to squeeze in. Just wanted everyone to know we are HERE!

Best--the 2 Cs
